Clinton Dyess

February 27, 1934 — April 11, 2018

Clinton Troy Dyess passed from this world and into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at The Carpenter House, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A resident of Denham Springs, Clint was born on February 27th, 1934 in Carson, Mississippi.

Clint was a Mason with the Istrouma Lodge. He retired in 1977 following 23 years of service as a supervisor with Kleinpeter Farms Dairy. Clint became a newspaper distributor with the State Times & Morning Advocate in 1966, eventually becoming one of the largest distributors for the publishing company before retiring in 2017. In 1973 he opened Clint's Lawnmower Sales and Service in a small shop at the corner of Harrell's Ferry and Cedarcrest Avenue. In 1978, Clint built a new building on land he purchased further down Cedarcrest Avenue. There, along with his son Darryl, he expanded this business and went forward as C & D Sales and Service. In his later years, Clint worked on small engines at K & D Rent All & Hardware. Clint was a man of God, hardworking, loved his family, and doted on and treasured his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Dyess (Mary Ann) of Dandridge, TN and Darryl Dyess (Wanda) of Livingston; his daughters, Toni Greer (Jim) of Tampa, FL and Penny Dyess of Denham Springs; a brother, Ralph Dyess; sisters, Agnes Gilbert, Jean Lembeck, Martha Lou Lemoine, and Bobbie Stiglet; eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gaston Dyess and Hattie Mae (Berry) Dyess; his wife of 64 years, Virginia Prestigiacomo Dyess; a baby daughter; a sister, Christine Everett; and brothers, Reverend Vance Dyess, Lavelle Dyess and Harmon Dyess.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher Dyess, Scott Dyess, Jeremy Dyess, and Jonathon Dyess; Son-in-law Jim Greer; and nephew Dr. John Prestigiacomo.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Miletello and Dr. William Russell; the rehabilitation therapists at Mid City; Cypress Home Health Care; and, the nurses, doctors and caregivers of The Carpenter House, all for their kind and compassionate care.

Memorial Service will take place at the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, April 16 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Reverend Michi Head of Jefferson United Methodist Church and Clint's grandson Jason Dyess. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home beginning with private family time at 9:00 am, followed by open visitation from 9:30 am until Memorial Service time. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
