Mr. Toups died at his home in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. He was 97, born Jan. 19, 1911, in Thibodaux. Mr. Toups was married to Clara Quinn for 59 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger and was a devoted LSU and NASCAR fan. He retired from Diamond Motors as an auto parts manager and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 3298. Survived by his wife, Clara; two daughters, Pamela Ann Toups and Barbara T. Hull and husband Russell A. Sr. Mr. Toups had 10 grandchildren, Shawn, Keisha, Deanna, Shantele, Russell Jr., Brooke, Anthony, Darleen, Karen and Gerry; 10 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Charlotte and Andrea Bollinger; nephew, Donald T. Boysie Bollinger; and dear sister-in-law, Dorothy Q. Dupuy. He was preceded in death by a son, George Randall; mother, Mrs. Charlotte Morvant; brother, Karl P. Toups; and two great-grandsons, Shane and Shawn Hull. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Oct. 13, was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul McDuffie, celebrant. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Russell Sr., Russell Jr., Randell Trey Butler and Terry, Barry and Kevin Dupuy.
