Clifton Lasseigne

Clifton Cyril Lasseigne Jr. was called home to heaven on Friday, October 6, 2017. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Pat Broussard, celebrant. Interment: Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Visitation will begin at 10:30am Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Cliff was born in Laurel, MS to Clifton Lasseigne Sr. and Harriet "Peggy" Braud Lasseigne on February 7, 1924. After the passing of his father in 1937, Peggy relocated her children to Thibodaux, LA. Once graduating from high school in 1941, Cliff enlisted in the United States Navy. Cliff was training to be a Navy pilot during World War II, but the war ended before he completed aviation training. Upon discharge from the Navy, Cliff attended Louisiana State University and earned his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1949 and his Masters of Science in Architecture in 1951. After receiving his degrees, Cliff began working at Dave Gier and Associates. Shortly after, he acquired the firm and later renamed it Lasseigne and Leggett Architects Inc. Cliff met and married his wife, Isabel, in 1954. Married for 63 years, Cliff and Isabel had five children. A devoted and faithful husband and father, Cliff helped raise his five children with patience, discipline and humility. Cliff was his family's hero, anchor and advisor. He had an immense passion for woodworking and his family-built Camp on the Tickfaw River which he built in hopes that his children, grandchildren and their children would enjoy many days of pleasure. Cliff was a faithful and devout Christian and was strong in his Catholic faith. He served St. Thomas More Catholic Parish as the parish architect until his retirement in 2001. He also offered his services to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, which included a seat on their Finance Committee. His success in family, profession and interests can be directly attributed to his devotion, work ethic and natural gifts.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Isabel Rita Leblanc Lasseigne; his son Jacque (and his wife, Katie); his daughters Julie Lasseigne Neupert, Margaret Lasseigne Musso (and her husband, Donald) and Jennifer Lasseigne Batson (and her husband, James); 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters Dorothy Lasseigne Daly and Blanche Lasseigne Baudouin. He is preceded in death by his son, Clifton Lasseigne III; his brother, Oliver Lasseigne; his sisters Mae Lasseigne Calongne and Ruth Lasseigne Walker; and his parents.
