She is the oldest of 5 children, all girls. She was a devoted Catholic until the Lord called her home. Her faith and family was her life, and she did her very best to make sure everyone knew it.
Claudia is survived by her children: Donna Allen husband Randy, Dennis Sylvester, and Ellen Smith husband Cliff. Her grandchildren: Joey Allen wife Jennifer, Jodi Bullock, Amanda Barker Hamilton, Wade Barker wife Rebecca, and Amanda Smith Lewis husband Griff. Her great grandchildren: Brianna and Bethany Allen, Hailey and Hayden Bullock, Aubrey Herrick, and Garrison Lewis. Her great-great grandchild: Tatum Heine. Sisters: Shirley Soileau, Joyce Fontenot, and Faye Vidrine. Numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins that were close to her heart. Preceded in death by her parents Claude and Stella Fontenot, her granddaughter Stephanie Nicole Barlow, her sister Patricia Vidrine, brothers-in-law Dean Soileau and Carl Norbert Vidrine, and nephew Michael Fontenot.
She dedicated more than 50 years working for the State of Louisiana with most of the service at the State Archives. She started at State Archives when she was 27 and her last day to officially work was her 80th birthday in 2016. She retired twice and returned on numerous occasions as a part time employee. She loved her workplace, the people, and just working.
Her faith, friends, and family carried her through her life and this final journey. She fought the good fight. We would like to sincerely thank St. Joseph Hospice along with Tilia, Susie, Susan, Kaye, and Josh for their continued support and love through this process.
Funeral services for Claudia will be held on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, with the funeral mass starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow immediately at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
