Claudia Murphy

Claudia Joy Campbell Murphy, 79, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. She was a native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Claudia Joy loved and served her Lord in various capacities throughout her life for as long as her health permitted. Her joy was in serving others, from being a church pianist for over 50 years to helping numerous couples with their weddings and showers to her active involvement in almost any church function where she could be of help. She was also actively involved in her children's PTA and school functions, always volunteering to be "room mother."

She married the love of her life, Loyd, in 1958. He preceded her in death and she missed him greatly. To this union, three children were born. She is survived by one son, Darryl and his wife, Tammy; two daughters, Cindy and husband Jed Sachse; and Robin and husband Randall Waller; three grandchildren, Justin and Murphy Sachse, and Alex Waller; and one great-grandson Justin Sachse, Jr. Also survived by sisters-in-law Maggie Campbell and Marie Mauldin, and brother-in-law Wade Murphy along with many other dear family members and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, James Lee and Serena Sharp Campbell; one brother, T.J. Campbell; sister, Ida Mae Ramer; and granddaughter-in-law, Brittany Sachse.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home,11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 11:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m. followed by homegoing service. Interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Richard Holland will officiate.

Claudia Joy loved spending time with her family and would like nothing more for you to honor her memory than by spending time with your loved ones. From her kids: Our mom was the center of our family and made our lives happy and wonderful by teaching us about Jesus and living her life as a testament of His love and grace. We love her dearly and will miss her so much, just as we miss our dad. But, we have this blessed hope -- we will see them again!
