Claude Arnold Carmouche passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 80. He was born on October 11, 1944, in Morganza to Anatole and Sophie Grady Carmouche. After graduating high school, he proudly served our country for three years in the United States Army. Claude worked as a supervisor for Borden Chemicals and Plastics for over 30 years before his retirement.
He was a true Louisiana sportsman, with hunting and fishing being some of his favorite pastimes. Claude enjoyed working in the yard and watching LSU games. He kept himself busy, whether it was coaching baseball, working on lawnmowers or tinkering with things around the home – but none of these hobbies matched the joy he had in spending time with his sons, their growing families and his friends. He was a member of several area hunting clubs and Healing Place Church.
Claude is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrtis Fabre and Rita Carmouche; brother Gerald Carmouche; niece Cynthia Carmouche O’Boyle; and daughter-in-law, Christine “Christi” LeJeune Carmouche.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine “Tissie” Jarreau Carmouche; their sons, Paul Carmouche (Rosie Dalton), Chuck Carmouche (Lorrie), and Tommy Carmouche (Wendy); and his brother, Gene Carmouche. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Carmouche Gary (Mason), Mallory Carmouche Craig (Dayton), Hunter Carmouche (Madison), Ashlyn Carmouche Racca (Blake), Megan Carmouche Reed (Zack), Darion Carmouche, Katie Carmouche, Petty Officer Second Class (E5) Connor Long (Samantha) and Hayden Kimball; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Gary, Emmett Craig, Emersyn Craig, Koen Carmouche, Shia Long, Stassi Long, and Shep Long;
Claude’s family would like to extend their gratitude to his dedicated caregiver, Ginger Watts; his dear friend and caregiver, Debra Seymour; and the kind souls at Amedisys Home Health Care, especially Dusty Hinton, LPN. They also wish to send special thanks to Dr. Ryan Richard and his staff for all their love and dedicated attention over the last few years, the Baton Rouge General Medical Center Intensive Care Unit staff for their wonderful care, and to Dr. Lacey Adkins at the Voice Center- not only for her exceptional care, but for always making Claude smile. Finally, a special thanks to his sister-in-law, Iris Mathern and brother-in-law, Ronnie Jarreau, for the help and love you have both provided - you are both such a blessing to our family.
