Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Cormier, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 12, 2018, after a short but courageous fight with Vasculitis, a rare auto-immune disease. She was born on May 16, 1949, to Clarence and Joy Norwood. As a young lady, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, water skiing, playing cards, and raising her three children. Later in life, she continued to enjoy her vast collection of plants, playing Pokeno monthly with friends, vacationing with her family, and traveling with her husband and dear friends to places such as Alaska, China, and many countries in Europe. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Patrick Cormier; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Yvette Cormier, and Bradley and Lee Cormier, all of Baton Rouge; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Jeremy Meaux of Youngsville; and seven grandchildren, Devin Davis, Blayton and Landon Cormier, Peyton and Elise Cormier, and Lauren and Caroline Meaux. She is also survived by her mother, Joy Norwood; five siblings and their spouses, Mary Kay Norwood and Louis Dupeire, Donald Norwood, Janet and Ted Magee, Paul and Wanda Norwood, and Amy and Kirk Arnold; ten nieces and nephews, and two great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Norwood. Cindy was a devout Catholic and member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church for 38 years. She retired in 2005 after a 20-year career as a merchandiser with The Hershey Co. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Hwy on Wednesday, August 15th, from 5 pm - 8 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 16th, at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial which begins at 11 am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy in Baton Rouge, St. Jude Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
