Christine Temple

February 3, 1949 — July 24, 2012

Tina, a loving and beloved wife and mother, passed away on July 24th at 63 years of age. A native of Bunkie, La, and resident of Baton Rouge, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Temple, and her daughter, Sarah Temple, both of Baton Rouge, and her sister, Mary Gail Bordelon of Marksville, La, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters inlaw, and many close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Silton and Lilly Aymond of Bunkie, La. Tina was very close to her daughter and loved to spend time with her family and friends. Tina was a teacher and librarian for over 30 years in the Catholic School System in Baton Rouge and spent many years as the librarian at St. Jude School. She very much loved the students she taught, and enjoyed being a part of the St. Jude Community, where she made many friends. She was an avid reader and lover of books. She also loved to garden and had a profound appreciation for nature. Tina cared deeply for animals, especially her cat Simon, and was a longtime member of the ASPCA. Throughout her life, Tina remained youthful and passionate, especially about music, and felt that, as Dylan Thomas wrote, one should not go gentle into that good night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light. Special thanks and heartfelt appreciation from her family to all of those who took excellent care of her over the past year, including Cassandra Gray, Angel Haney, Barbara Chase, and the wonderful staffs at both Ollie Steele Burden Manor and St. Joseph Hospice. In lieu of a formal service or flowers, in respect of her wishes, donations can be made to the ASPCA www.aspca.org or the Alzheimers Association www.alz.org.
