The retired owner of Blood River Landing in Springfield, he died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in a motorcycle accident in Springfield. He was 54 and a resident of Springfield. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. until service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Texas. Survived by a sister, Mary Pennington and husband Daryl; a brother, Harry John Albert Jr. and wife Sharon; nieces and nephews, Daryl Pennington Jr., Danielle Pennington Guerin and husband Chris, Jessica Dye and husband Andrew, Lisa Albert, John Albert and Harrison Albert; two great-nieces, Nicole Elizabeth Guerin and Mary Margaret Dye; and a great-nephew, Devin Christopher Guerin. Preceded in death by his father, Harry John Albert Sr.; and mother, Violet Cain Albert. Crazy Charlie was known for his generosity. He donated playground equipment to schools and police cars to the Killian Police Department. He started the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run and appeared on The Real Gilligan's Island reality TV show as the Skipper. He was a marina owner for more than 25 years. Charlie's most notable accomplishment was his two-time world-record speed crossing of the Gulf of Mexico in 1995 and 1999. Through the years, he created and produced the wildest Mardi Gras boat parades.
