Bradbury, Charles Matt (Duke)
Charles Matt Bradbury a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Baton Rouge, La. peacefully returned home to his Lord on January 17, 2019 at age 92 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of Josephine Rachal Bradbury for 62 years, preceded in death January 19, 2010 after her battle with COPD. He is the father of 4 daughters; Cynthia M. Bradbury, Amber B. Heist and husband Clark, Kim M. Bradbury and Shelly B. Gerdes; grandfather of Dana H. Elkins and husband William, Eric Scherer and wife Marianne, Shane B. Heist and wife Mary, Chauntel Gerdes and Silas Gerdes, great-grandfather of Ethan, Meghan and Gracie Elkins, Holden and Harrison Heist.
Charles served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked at Falstaff Brewery for 40 years and retired in 1984. Then worked with his wife Josephine for Associated Distributors on a part-time basis.
Charles faithfully served “God” at Woodlawn Baptist Church. We would like to say Thank You to members who so willingly picked him up & brought him to and from church when he became unable to drive himself. Also those in his Sunday school class that would check on him and came to visit him when he became unable to attend church any longer. Also Thank You to the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing facility who gave their love, care and time to look after him during the last months of his declining health. We would also like to thank “Life Source Hospice” and all who helped ease the pain for our Dad during the last weeks of his life and diligently stood by his side.
There will be no official services just an informal gathering with family prior to internment.
