Charles F. “Buddy” Tinsley was born May 11, 1926 in Petrolia, TX to Charles Frederick and Alma Pool Tinsley.
He passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023. During his incredible 97 years of life, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlie Mae and Jackie; son Steven Humphries and beautiful granddaughter April Tinsley.
He will be forever missed by those fortunate to have loved him: His wife of 44 years, Sharon Tinsley; children Caroline Pearl Chancey, Mark Tinsley, Denise Peltier, Jason Tinsley (Susan), Michael Humphries and Lauren Martin (Dan); grandchildren Tene, Dusty, Christina, Joseph, Susie, Jennifer, Jessica, Crystal, Lindsay, Rachel, Erica, Hannah and Hailey as well as many great grandchildren, brothers & sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
When the Astros were on, you could find Buddy glued to the TV and on the phone with Mark or Jason providing his own color commentary or discussing the “should haves” after the game. But not much brought Buddy as much joy as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing lit up his face more than a call or a visit from the grandkids or learning about a new achievement one of them had that he could later fit into a conversation and brag about. He appreciated life and the joy in small things, he would often share anecdotes about “life in Texas during the depression” to ensure we also had an appreciation for the small things.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 12 at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Hwy from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life and burial to follow at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Buddy’s team of doctors, especially Dr. Kevin Kilpatrick and the palliative care team at Baton Rouge General. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Astros Foundation.
