Charles Waymon Smith,
75, born in Walthall County, Mississippi and a resident of Baton Rouge since early childhood died at his home in Watson, Louisiana on September 5, 2014. He was a loving husband, Father, and grandfather. Charlie was a graduate of Istrouma High School, served in the United States Navy on Submarines USS Chivo and the USS Pompon. After serving in the Navy, he worked as a manager at Hoppers in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. He went on to work as an Instrument Analyzer Technician and retired from Rubicon Chemicals after 34 years of service to the company. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a member of the Fairfields Masonic Lodge.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 10:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Knapp Smith son, Keith Waymon Smith daughter, Dana Smith Walker and husband Darrell 5 grandchildren, Kara Anne Smith, Kristen Leigh Smith, Jordan Waymon Smith, Matthew Charles Walter, and Sarah Elisabeth Walter and two great grandchildren, Paytonn and Lucy Moody a sister, Georgia Smith Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Essie Smith, and a brother, Bobby Gerald Smith.
