Charles Thomas Sands, a remarkable man of love, generosity, values and vision, peacefully passed away this Christmas morning, December 25, 2018, at the age of 66. A beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather, “Tom” (as he was called by family and friends) was born on August 19, 1952 in Ironton, Ohio. It was there that he met the love of his life, Deborah Rowell, and the two were married on May 31, 1975. Tom earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Louisiana State University in Industrial Engineering which led him to a 27 year long career working for DOW Chemical. Before his retirement, Tom spent 12 years working for the State of Louisiana in the Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Transportation and Development.
Tom is survived by his beautiful wife Debbie; sons, Trey and Jason; their spouses, Carin and Constantine respectively; sister and brother in law, Debbie and Byron Traywick; grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan and Tyler, as well as many nieces and nephews including Benjamin, Jonathan, and Hannah Patterson and spouses.
He is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Ruby and Herb Sands.
