Charles “Charlie” E. Rush, Jr., born on December 25, 1945, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 79.
Charlie was born in Natchez, Mississippi. He graduated high school at Istrouma High School, class of 1963, and graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He went on to become a supervisor for Exxon Plastics Plant. Charlie always enjoyed coaching football, working out at the gym, traveling, and especially his dog, Buster. Charlie was the life of the party; there was so much laughter when he was present. He was a great storyteller and had lots of stories to tell. He was world traveled and very generous to all. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. Charlie was loved by all and never met a stranger. He was our “Superman”.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Donna Rush-Soniat, Dara Rush Bartee, Kelly Rush-McGlothren (Wes), and Angelle Rush Butcher; step-daughter, Jacqueline Jones; step-sons, Chad Klein (Tricia), Christopher Schiro (Jennifer), and Nick Schiro (Britney); grandchildren, Chas Kelly (Meghan), Cassandra Soniat Boyd (Landon), Brad Bartee (Rachel), Weston McGlothren, Connor McGlothren, Brian Bartee (Emillee), Heath Soniat, Gabriel Butcher (Miranda), Jayden Butcher, Madeline Jones, Crawford Jones, Jessi Klein, Ella Klein, Christian Schiro, Kaden Schiro, Kaylyn Schiro, Easton Schiro, Benjamin Schiro, and Austin Schiro; and great-grandchildren, Clayton Monte, Deron McGlothren, Jacob Rivers Kelly, and Wesley Butcher.
He is preceded in death by wife of 22 years, Barbara Schiro Rush; parents, Charles E. Rush, Sr. and Helen C. Rush; and brother, Mike Rush, Sr.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Louise Futch, Dallas Smith, Jennifer Schiro, Lapriel Williams, Alyson Garvey, and the doctors and medical staff at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for their unwavering dedication and devotion for the well-being and care of our father.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, and on Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning 9:00 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
