Charles L. Mooney passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born May 3, 1934, in Kosciusko, Mississippi to Charles Augustus Mooney and Letha Allean Malone Mooney.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Mooney and his daughter-in-law, Lena Mooney. Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Beverly Blanchard Mooney; their sons Greg M. Mooney and his wife Lisa, Gary C. Mooney and his wife Sue, Mark E. Mooney and Brad M. Mooney. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Michael, Kimberley, Nicole, Charlie, Patrick, Beth, John and Jordyn; his great-grandchildren Nya, Steven, Aurora and Thomas; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
He proudly served our country in the Unites States Marine Corps, having enlisted after being inspired by his uncle, one of his heroes, the late Thomas Malone. Charles was a 1960 graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and where he became a lifetime member of Pi Tau Sigma. In 1976, after many dedicated years with Farrel Corporation, Exxon, and Dow Chemical, he ventured out on his own and became a founding member of ECI. Although he loved what he did and the relationships he built with clients over the years, he ultimately sold the business in 1995, to enjoy the next phase of his life…retirement! This allowed him and his wife to travel the world, including many trips to Europe, but for Charles he appreciated a relaxing trip to Branson, Missouri.
Charles spent many years when his sons were growing up taking them hunting. As they grew older, time was spent watching LSU, or you would you find him cultivating the family’s genealogy with daily trips to the library, or on the computer – which was a blessing, as he scanned in all the family photos prior to having been affected by the storm.
