A loving husband, father and grandfather, Charles Russell Lieux departed his life for his new heavenly home on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. On August 30, 1929, a precious angel was born to live life to the fullest, blessing and touching all of those he knew with words of wisdom. He was born in Lake Charles and raised in Baton Rouge. He was retired from Stauffer Chemical with more than 30 years of service. He was married to his beloved wife, best friend and lifelong companion of 63 years, Catherine Mae Jarreau Lieux. Russ treasured his family and friends who will miss him greatly. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4031. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Russell Lieux Jr.; daughter, Cynthia Lieux; mother, Irene Aucoin Comeaux; stepfather, John Riley Comeaux; father, Joseph Russell Lieux; grandparents, Henry Clay and Aline Gros Aucoin; and brother, Robert Comeaux. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Mae Lieux; five children, Linda McCormick and husband Dale, Gwen Lieux, Catherine Lieux Mitchell, Denise Lieux and partner Amy Holcomb, and Jeanne Lieux Sutton and husband Norman Jr., all of Baton Rouge; brothers, Donald and Joseph Comeaux; sisters, Ester Amond, Gaynell McElwee, Margaret Terrell and Theresa German; grandchildren, Michael Dale McCormick and wife Connie, Walter Lee Chambers, Lacie Mitchell Robichaux and husband Matt, Dustin Brandt Mitchell and wife Stephanie, Caleb Russell Sutton and Caitlin Mae Sutton; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Marie and Sarah Catherine McCormick, Zachary Marion-Conner and Sierra Dakota and Emily Brook McCormick. Pallbearers will be Michael, Wally, Dustin, Matt, Caleb and Norman. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Ray Comeaux and Wilfred Thomas Jarreau. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, March 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
