A certified public accountant and partner in Provost, Salter, Harper Alford, LLC, he died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at 7:40 a.m. following a five-year battle with cancer. He was 50, born Sept. 27, 1957, in Baton Rouge, to Charles Everett Harper Sr. and Doris Conrad Harper. He was the oldest of three children. He was united in marriage to his high-school sweetheart, Rene D. Harper, on July 20, 1979. Charles is survived by his wife, Rene; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charlie III and Brandi Harper, and Bryan Harper. He is also survived by parents, Charles and Doris Harper; brothers, Harold Harper and Larry Harper; sisters-in-law, Donna Harper and Jennifer Harper; and nieces and nephews. Charles genuinely loved and encouraged everyone God placed in his life. He was a mentor and spiritual counselor who profoundly impacted many lives, even in his last hours. Visitation at Healing Place Church, 19202 Highland Road, on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dino Rizzo, the Rev. Wayne Austin and the Rev. Ken Courville. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway. Pallbearers will be Bret Dupr, Scott Levine, Jeff Owens, Ray Panquerne, Brent Salter, Stacy Smith, Billy Tam and Tom Young. We would like to thank all of our family and many friends for their prayers, love and support. We especially appreciate the excellent care from our two medical teams, Dr. Gerald Miletello, nurses and staff in Baton Rouge and Dr. Richard Champlin, the 11th-floor nurses and staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Most of all, we praise our great Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, for his promise of eternal life to all who believe.
