Charlene R. Mentzer, 54, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on March, 17, 2021.
Charlene graduated from Gregory High School in Gregory, South Dakota where she played volleyball. She went on to coach her daughter’s volleyball team at Parkview Baptist School. She was married to the love of her life, Richard, for 33 years. Charlene was a flight attendant for Piedmont/US Air until deciding to stay home and raise her children. She enjoyed making pottery, calligraphy, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Richard, daughter Megan (Joseph), sons Michael and Jordan (Anna), sister Julie Simas (Dennis), brothers Rick Pesek (Carrie), Randy Pesek (Lona), and Alvin Pesek (Marie), grandchildren Ella Catherine, Molly Claire, and Jordan Curtis Mentzer, and Myra and Dash Decker. She is also survived by mother-in-law, Marie Mentzer, father-in-law, Richard Mentzer Jr, sister-in-laws, Danielle Mentzer and Lisa Daro, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Pesek and mother, Joyce Scott, grandparents Joe and Helen Pesek, and Cliff and Kay Wynia.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven funeral home on March 24, 2021 from 12:30 until services at 2:30. Burial to follow.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mentzer, Jordan Mentzer, Dennis Simas, Beau Brignac, Todd Ladner, and Luke Ables.
