Cecile Penn

Cecile Theresa Dupont Penn was a native of Simmesport, LA. She passed away after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's on February 19, 2015 at Sunrise Assisted Living on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge she was 92 years of age.

She has resided in Baton Rouge since 1950 where she finished her career working with her husband in their own business. During her life she enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time at the camp and trips to casinos where she was always a winner. She lived her life her way. Special times were spent during these last years with her granddaughter Jody who made her every holiday and season special.

She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Penn Lawrence and her son Charles Ray Penn who both reside in Baton Rouge; son-in-law, David Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Gerrie Austen Penn; granddaughters, Nanette Young, Jamie Penn Hunt, Jody Penn Moffett; step-grandsons, Glenn Sibley, Scott Sibley, Todd Sibley; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cecile is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Raymond C Penn; her parents, Edmonia Bernadette Rabalais Dupont and Fulgence Dupont; step-mother, Adelice Smith Dupont; sisters, Gladys Houston, Inez Lazarus and Bernadine Laney; brothers, Raymond Dupont and Dudley Dupont; great-grandson, Christopher Young; and nephew Johnny Houston.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 6:00PM-8:00PM. A rosary will be led by Janet and Allen Kliebert at 7PM. Visiting hours will resume on Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. George Catholic Church from 9:00AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Wayne Dupont, Keith Lazarus, Michael Laney, DJ Young, Schaun Thomas and Joey Moffett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Dupont, Larry Miller, Danny Penn and Denton Laney.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

The family would like to also express our sincere appreciation for the care givers at Sunrise Assisted Living who we know loved and took the best care of her possible. Special appreciation to Deborah Breaux, RN with Hospice in His Care, who lovingly cared for her until she left this earth to join her husband and heavenly father.
