A retired iron worker and welder, he died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at The Retirement Center. He was 78, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Brookhaven, Miss. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Ora Nell Wilson Brister; a daughter, Sandra Nell Clayson and husband Don; a son, Randall Cecil Brister; four sisters, Norma Brown, Dean Sacaro, Jo Grosskopf and Loraine Hisaw; three grandchildren, Trisha Lumpkin, Drew Clason and Andrew Brister; and a great-granddaughter, Alexa Lumpkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Lillian Thornhill Brister; five siblings, Clarence Brister, Clifton Brister, Charlene Reeves, Bill Brister and Leland Brister. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 623 and owner and operator of Brister Used Cars.
