Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Reed Payne, a native of Kincaid, Kansas and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 92.
She attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri and majored in English. She was a lifetime member and one of the founding members of the former Southside Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. She was loving homemaker and a darn good cook! She had a beautiful voice and was a longtime member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Baton Rouge Music Club Chorus. Jean was a talented china painter and member of the Porcelain Art Guild of Baton Rouge. She also displayed her talent in sewing and piano.
Most importantly, Jean carried out her Christian Faith in Jesus Christ throughout her life.
Jean is survived by three daughters, Patricia Joan Payne, Carol Janette Simons, Linda Joyce Mol; son, John Reed Payne; and 3 grandsons, Jason Mol, Preston Payne, and Justin Payne.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. James Payne, Jr.; her parents, David Leslie Reed and Katherine Frost Reed; and two brothers, Robert Jasper Reed and James Reed.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
