Catherine Meo Lowe

Catherine Meo Lowe was born in New Orleans on March 4, 1928, to Gaspare Meo and Carmela Schiro Meo. She attended Lakeview Elementary followed by McDonough High School for girls. During WWII she worked at the Naval repair base as a secretary. It is where she met the love of her life, Alfred Lowe. He was a Purple Heart recipient wounded at Iwo Jima. The two remained in love and married for 55 years until his passing in 2007.

 

Catherine was an outstanding secretary who became an excellent executive assistant and served proudly for Bancroft Paper Company She was known for her accuracy, attention to detail, and loyalty. Her biggest job was as a mother to the couple's four children: Kenneth, Deborah, Steven, and Diane. She was a founding member of St. Thomas More Church and served on the Altar Society for many years. She was a kind, loving, and gentle mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Catherine was a fabulous cook and loved to sew and decorate. Catherine enjoyed her family and her little dog, Misty.

 

She is survived by her children; Kenneth Alfred Lowe and wife Brenda, Deborah Lowe Jones and husband Darrell, Steven Lowe, and Diane Lowe McKernan and husband Steve Lyman; five grandchildren, Nevin Bretz and wife Patty, Darin Jones, Mandy Piper and husband Brandon, Diandra Lowe, and Kendra Edwards and husband Chandler; and great-grandchildren Avery Piper, Arianna Bretz, Isabella Bretz, and Amelia Edwards. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Peter Meo and wife Gloria, and son-in-law Jerry McKernan.

 

Visitation to be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 1:30 pm followed by service at 2 pm. Committal Services will follow at the Chapel of Eternal Faith Mausoleum at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
