Cassie Laird Sheehan, age 38, known to many as 'C', passed away on December 26, 2018. Cassie attended Northwestern State University where she fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher. She began her teaching career at Port Allen Elementary where she stayed teaching for 16 years. One of the highlights of her teaching career was when she was awarded the 2010-2011 West Baton Rouge Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year. Cassie loved teaching, all kinds of music, dancing, and the beach. Most of all she loved her husband and children, who were her greatest joy.
Cassie is survived by her loving husband, Garrett Sheehan; their two beautiful children, Gabby and Cole Sheehan; parents, Gerald and Terri Laird; brother, Jeremy (Tracy) Laird; sister, Lauren (John) Hoffpauir; maternal grandfather, Vincent Joseph Serio; parents-in-law, Gerald "Buddy" and Meri Sheehan; and sisters-in-law, Amber Lodal and Lauren (Ashley) Burridge. She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Billy Jo Laird Sr. and Ruby Laird; and maternal grandmother, Mary Louise Berthelot Serio.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10:00am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Father Donald Blanchard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chase Browning, Jansen Browning, Joshua Browning, Tres' Armand, Gary Leonards, Patrick Vosburg, Justin Reynolds, and Garrett Hiebert.
The family of Cassie wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all family and friends who have supported and prayed over her the past year. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
