Retired owner of Farmer's Market of Baton Rouge and a resident of Jackson, she died at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at her home. She was 78 and a native of Fairhope, Ala. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Glen Taylor. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth W. Baker and wife Cavalle, and Carl E. Baker; grandchildren, Karen Baker, Natalie Baker and her son, Uriah Moore, Nicole Baker, Carrie, Michael and Catherine Gagliano; a brother, Carl Buddy Veasey; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Baker; parents, Eldredge and Carlie Veasey; and a sister, Doris Ingram.
