Caryol White

A beloved former first lady of Baton Rouge, known for her wit and charm, Toby passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. James Place. Her first husband, Jack Christian was MayorPresident from 1957 to 1964. Toby was a retired employee of the Louisiana State Department of Revenue, a native and resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by her niece, Gay Von Dohlen of Goliad, TX nephews, Bernard Aoueille, Jr and wife Minifred of San Antonio, TX Henry L. Aoueille and wife Gloria of Victoria, TX ten adoring great nieces and nephews including sidekick, Mary Gay Von Dohlen eighteen greatgreat nieces and nephews two greatgreatgreat nieces. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Nancy Griffin of Cincinnati, OH Rosalind Laird and husband, Russell of Fort Worth, TX Mary Beth Allen of Fort Worth, TX stepson, Wingate Fletcher White of Pine Bluff, AR twelve step grandchildren and twenty step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Leon and Ida Caulfield first husband, Jack Christian and second husband, Wingate Moore White three sisters, Ida Aoueille, Mary Day and Jean Weathersby brothers Leon Caulfield and Henry Caulfield. She was an avid bridge player and world traveler. She was a member of the Womans Club of Baton Rouge the Book Club numerous bridge groups the Yellow Jacket Sorority at Southeastern Louisiana College a charter member of the City Club of Baton Rouge and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and aids of St. James Place and Hospice of Baton Rouge, as well as her wonderful personal caregivers over the years. Visiting will be a Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 2pm until service at 3pm, conducted by Rev. Charles Wood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of Baton Rouge or to your favorite charity.
