A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was called home Sunday, April 13, 2008. She was born in East Baton Rouge Parish on April 16, 1934, and was a resident of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma Eccles and Bonnie O'Neal; and grandparents, Thomas Theodore and Lavinia Rachel King Eccles and Leroy and Aurelia Ellen Germany O'Neal. She is survived by her husband, John Fuqua Stafford, of Baton Rouge; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Diane Stafford, of Baton Rouge, Andrew and Julia Stafford, of Missouri City, Texas, and Timothy and Cherie Stafford, of Folsom; daughter and son-in-law, Siobhan and Ronald Brooks, of Walker; eight grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Stafford, Thomas, Lorna and Maeve Brooks and Ian, Emily and Erin Stafford; sister and brother-in-law, Jessalyn and Don Byrd; uncle and two aunts, Elton Francis and Elna Peak Eccles, of Walker, and Dorothy Watts. She was a graduate of LSU, retired school teacher, Sunday school teacher and member of Parkview Baptist Church. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, April 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting in the funeral home chapel on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Merlin Liverman and the Rev. Collin Wimberly. Pallbearers will be Camille Quoyeser, Donald Stafford, Kenneth Stafford, Parker Stafford, Schuyler Stuckey and Fredrick Turk. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
