“But I do not want you to be ignorant brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Carolyn Yonette Lee, age 84, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2023. Yonette was born July 26, 1938 in New Orleans and was raised in Baton Rouge. She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1956. Yonette married Sheldon Lee, December 5, 1958; they made their home and started their family. In 1972, Yonette and her husband, Sheldon, started a chemical and laboratory solutions business, La-MarKa, and worked together in that business for nearly 50 years.

She was very active in her children’s lives as a Cub Scout den mother, a softball coach, and cheered on her children in the stands as a football mom and a marching band mom. She made sure her children took music lessons but most importantly, she made sure that her children knew Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She was a long time member of Weller Avenue Baptist Church, Florida Blvd. Baptist Church, and Greenwell Springs Baptist Church where she loved her Sunday School class.
Yonette loved her grandchildren and great grandchild very much. She enjoyed throwing sleepovers for all the grandkids and taking them on vacation.
The last few years Yonette was confined to her bed due to various medical issues. But it did not keep her from being involved in her family’s day to day lives. Her faithful and loving husband, Sheldon, of 64 years was constantly at her side during her last few years. He was her caretaker and constant companion. Yonette’s family now takes comfort that she is free of pain and is now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus.
Yonette is preceded in death by her father, William Hosman, mother, Evelyn Powell Haydel, stepfather, Guy Haydel, and sister Brenda Margaret Haydel.
