Caroline Frances Esposito

February 28, 1997 – February 7, 2021

No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart. – author Shanina Shaik

Caroline Frances Esposito lived her life just as she loved, with everything she had, until her heart couldn’t keep up anymore. Caroline died on February 7, 2021, as the result of a persistent heart defect. She was 23, a native of Baton Rouge, and a cyber engineering student at Louisiana Tech University. Caroline is survived by her parents Stephanie & Todd Foust, and Dean & Coila Esposito; brother Andrew Esposito, sisters Madison & Gabrielle Foust, Maddie Fontenot & Ella LaFleur; grandparents Carole & Paul Fredrickson, Don & Gay Esposito, Patricia LaFleur, Judy Foust, Bill & Kathi Foust; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Daniel LaFleur.

Caroline was a talented and avid equestrian from a young age. She loved animals and always had a pet. Her cat Salem brought her so much joy and comfort. Caroline also loved her family, friends, computers, music and concerts, unforeseen places of adventure, being helpful, a female Vice President, and the Florida Gators. It’s quite possible that Game of Thrones was her all-time favorite series because of her connection to its characters. She possessed Tyrion’s wit, Daenerys’s beauty, Sansa’s intelligence, Jon’s determination, Arya’s fearlessness, Ned’s loyalty, Cersei’s assertiveness, Olenna’s candidness, and Tormund’s playfulness.

Caroline was unapologetically Caroline. Her sense of humor was infectious. She wanted to either shock you or make you laugh. She was independent and outspoken with an eclectic style. She would rather have been heard than seen. She didn’t like not knowing how to do something which is why she relished acquiring new knowledge and mastering unfamiliar skills. Caroline was also a huge advocate for the survivors of sexual assault, addiction, and mental illness.

A visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on February 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. A private funeral mass will follow. Pallbearers are Andrew Esposito, Brian Hutchinson, John Hutchinson, Luke LaFleur, Grant Smith, Chris Smith, Chad David, and Grant David.

In lieu of flowers, Caroline’s family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or your local animal shelter.
