Carol Scott Jennings, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph's Hospice.
A native of Newcastle, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Michigan State University, she was 88 years old. It was at Michigan State University that Carol met the late Robert "Bob" Jennings, whom she married in 1948 - the two were happily married for 63 years. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Carol was an avid golfer and active member of the Ladies Golf Association of the Country Club of Louisiana, where the Carol Jennings Sportsman's Award was established in her honor.
She loved her Monday bridge group and enjoyed her friendships. Carol also enjoyed spending time at her and Bob's beach house in Perdido Key, Florida where she made many happy memories hosting family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Craig Jennings and wife Cole Jennings; sister, Judy Barnett; daughter-in-law Linda Jennings Garrison; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Gibson and husband Joe Gibson, Taylor Jennings, Bobby Jennings, Caroline Jennings, Emily Jennings and Conner Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Jennings; father, John C. Scott; mother, Nellie Scott; brother, David Scott; and son, Paul Jennings.
A private service for family members will be held.
