Carmela Greco Calandro passed away on Sunday February 26, 2017 in Marietta, Ga. She was born on October 14, 1926 in Tickfaw, La. and was a long time resident of Baton Rouge.
She was a dedicated wife, sister, mother, and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Judy) Calandro Bernhard and her son-in-law Rudolph (Rudy) Henry Bernhard, who reside in Marietta, GA.; their 2 daughters, Kristina Marie Bernhard of Atlanta, GA and Kathleen Carmen Bernhard of Austin, TX and her fiancé, Harrison Holmes Jones of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Greco Rolfs of New Orleans.
While a resident of Baton Rouge she was employed by the State of Louisiana and retired after 30 years of Service. She was also a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Baton Rouge Republican Women's Association, and the Broadmoor Home Owners Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Calandro; her parents, John and Carmela Greco; her sisters, Louise Pigno, Virgina Hall, and Corinne Dell; her brothers Joe Greco, Cyrus Greco, Dr. Anthony Greco, and Norman Greco.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 10:30 am, officiated by Fr. Michael Walsh. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be Rudolph Bernhard, nephews Raymond Calandro, and Michael Calandro, and friend Stanley Pollins.
