Carl Elton Chaney, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 90. Carl was born on August 27, 1933, in Pride, Louisiana, son of the late Ida Noble and Ivy Chaney.
After proudly serving our country in the United States Army, Carl was honorably discharged and went on to work as an esteemed oil and gas agent. His expertise and passion in the field earned him the respect of his peers.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Carl was a talented carpenter. From a young age, he exhibited his craftsmanship and creativity, even having his work showcased in the display windows of Sears and Roebuck on 3rd Street downtown. Carpentry was not only a hobby but a true outlet for his artistic spirit.
Carl's adventurous spirit extended beyond his carpentry. He was an avid motorcycle touring bike
enthusiast, exploring the open roads with both joy and a sense of freedom. These pursuits brought him immense happiness and unforgettable memories.
Above all, Carl’s greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He shared a blessed life with his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn Kirby Chaney, who preceded him in death. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and support, nurturing their children and creating a legacy of warmth and compassion.
Carl is survived by his loving son, Kerry Chaney; his daughter, Traci McConnell; and his grandchildren, Katie, Emily, and Nathan McConnell.
