Carita Powers

A retired employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, she died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 2:03 p.m. at Plaquemine Manor. She was 64, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Crowley. Visiting at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her former husband, Alan J. Powers; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and John Dupont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Anna Powers, and Stephan and Tianna Lyall Powers; sister, Glenda Carriere and husband Pat; brother, Sidney Denis Thibodeaux and wife Louise; four grandchildren, Michael, Jacob and Seth Dupont and Quinn McMahon; and special friend, Ivy Cowboy St. Romain. Preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Effie Thibodeaux. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Special thanks to the staff at Plaquemine Manor for the care given to her at this time.
