Captain Walker Hill

Walker Laird Hill of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022.  He was 48 years old.

Walker proudly committed his life to the people of Baton Rouge serving 24 years with the Baton Rogue Fire Department, recently as a Fire Captain with Engine Company 6 C-Shift.  Walker took great pride in his calling as a firefighter, showing a deep loyalty to his career and the dedicated men and women who filled the ranks of the fire service.

Walker’s two greatest loves were his family and fire department.  He enjoyed spending his time off in the hills of Mississippi, trail riding on side-by-sides and developing a ‘taste for nature’.

Walker is survived by his fiancé, Stephanie Petty; his son, Tyler Hill (Erin); his brother, Joshua Hill (Cari); his father Charles ‘Chuck’ Hill (Nikko); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.  He is also survived by his fire crew, District Chief Mike Shank, Fire Equipment Operator Brandon Wilkinson, Firefighter Isaac Hunter, Firefighter Hayden Mouton and Firefighter Nathaniel Payton.

He was preceded in death by his mother Billie Jean Mullins.

The family of Captain Hill wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Fire Chief Michael Kimble and the brothers who stood by his side until the end.  What you saw as your duty, we received as love that serves as a safe harbor during a very difficult times.  We would also like to acknowledge the doctors and nursing staff at Our Lady of the Lake who cared for Walker day and night – especially Jordan, Justin and Jennifer in the Neurological Critical Care Unit.  Your compassion and professionalism provided our family comfort throughout, you will never be forgotten.  Also, to all who have sent your words of support and remembrance of Walker to our family – we thank you.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Drive in Baton Rouge on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 12: 00 p.m.  A Memorial Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
