William Stanley Burton III, ‘Butch’ a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, La passed away peacefully after an extended illness at his home on October 15, 2022, at the age of 72 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Butch lived an incredible and fulfilling life. He experienced the birth of his children, grandchildren and great grandson, traveled to almost the entire USA and a little bit of the world experiencing approximately 26,000 sunrises and sunsets. He was an avid sportsman loving anything outdoors pursuing his passions with boating, skiing, fishing, building, cooking and burning bonfires in his ‘riminea’ – there wasn’t much this wonderful man couldn’t do. He had many fond memories of Salisbury Hunting Club, Webb Park Men’s Golf Association, Most Blessed Sacrament Men’s Club, and Baton Rouge Bridge Club. His perseverance, dedication and humbling kindhearted spirit was infectious and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Virginia, whom he loved very much. He was a proud father of a daughter Heather and two sons Neal (Lynn) and Bo (Nancy); 7 grandchildren Blaze, Elle, Jimmy, Lizzy, Finley, Bryce, Kelly, great-grandson Thomas, sister-in-law Marion Landry (John) and brother-in-law Ray Meredith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Betty Burton, brother Steve Burton, brother-in-law Steve Underwood and sister-in-law Cathy Meredith.
Memorial service and burial will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Resthaven Funeral Home, visitation beginning at 12pm until service at 2pm.
