A resident of Denham Springs and native of Baton Rouge, he died Monday morning, June 8, 2009, in Baton Rouge, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 41, a U.S. Navy veteran and previously employed by Edison Chouest as an offshoreman. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, June 9, from 5 p.m. until religious service at 7 p.m., conducted by Dale DeLaune, chaplain. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Survived by his wife, Paige Griffiths Hiatt; mother, Mrs. Dean M. Landry; stepfather, Ronald J. Landry; two sons, Blake Ryan Hiatt and Rylan Dean Hiatt; sister, Sara Rusti White, Baton Rouge; half sister, Linda Anthony, Denham Springs; half brother, Ronald Landry Jr., Houston; brother-in-law, John Duke White; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, George Walter Hiatt Jr.; sister, Susan Anne Hiatt; half brothers, Michael J. Landry, Larry D. Landry, George Walter Hiatt III; grandmothers, Ida Landry and Willie Morris Evans; grandfathers, Lazard Landry and Joseph Carl Evans. He attended Redemptorist High School and graduated from Gables Academy. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University, was a member of TKE fraternity and a huge LSU fan. Special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice and nurse Bea Lafleur. The Pallbearers will be Scott Cobb, Barry Revere, Joel Drago, Bubba Deaton, John Duke White and Ronald Landry Jr.
