A self-employed resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Dublin, Ireland, he died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 64 and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The family would like to invite family and friends to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 26, at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Bass, celebrant. Visitation begins at the church at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Cremation to follow. Survived by his fiance, Linda LeBlanc; daughter, Shannon Alexander; two sons, Michael O'Connor and wife Alisa and Brendan J. O'Connor, of Miami Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Irene Reagan, of Long Island, N.Y., Josephine Fralick, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mary Barrett, of London; and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Brianna O'Connor. Preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809 or the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampson St., Suite 425, New Orleans, LA 70118. He served on the Baton Rouge Film Commission for the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Coastal Conservation Association. He was an avid fisherman and stamp collector.
