It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we share with you the passing of our Brad Michael, at the age of 40, on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Brad was a proud member of the Belaire High School class of 1998 and subsequently obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Louisiana State University. From the time he graduated high school until the time of his passing, Brad worked in the hospitality management industry and took a great deal of pride in making meals and events memorable for family, friends, and customers alike - no small detail was ever overlooked. An ever loyal and fiercely protective son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, you could always count on having Brad in your corner as your biggest cheerleader no matter what you were going through. In turn, he could always count on his family and friends to support and encourage him on every new venture he sought. From the time he came into this world on September 11th, 1980 until the time that he left us, Brad never shied away from giving you his opinion, good or bad. He loved a good argument and enjoyed the satisfaction of having the last word, even when he was wrong. Of all his qualities, his most admirable was that he always stood firm on what he wholeheartedly believed in and never once hesitated to speak up for what was right- no matter what it might cost him. We loved him unconditionally and without judgment, just as he chose to love others. Our sweet Brad was brilliant, witty, wickedly funny, his laugh loud and infectious.
Left to cherish his memory is his most beloved mother, Laura Prescott Landry and her husband, Jim, his sister, Shelley Prescott, his brother, Tyler Prescott, his adored nephew, Collin Prescott, and faithful weenie dog, Brittney. Brad was loved and treasured by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins and has always had a special place in his heart for his cousin, Bonney Wallis and her children, Chandler Pastorek, Taylor Pastorek, Emma Grace Jones, and his cousin Scott Jarreau.
He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Michael Prescott, his grandmother Barbara “Bobbie” Stirrat, grandparents Hardy “H.M” and Rosa Prescott, and cousin, Taylor Pastorek.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Saturday, December 19th from 4-6 p.m. in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in Brad’s name to either St. Christopher’s Addiction Wellness Center (225-387-1611), a local treatment facility for men 18 and older who are battling substance abuse or through the Krewe of Apollo who has established a scholarship in Brad’s memory. Donations to the scholarship fund can be made here through Facebook or directly to the Krewe of Apollo. Please include in the comment section ‘in honor of Brad Prescott.’
While Brad wasn’t ready for the assistance he so desperately needed, we hope that no other family has to experience the loss of someone they love to substance abuse.
