In the year and month of February 1923, the Great Jehovah God loaned to Robert and Paralee Furlow a little girl angel. The happy couple named the angel Bobbie. The angel grew into a beautiful lady. She married Chelmers Van Wheat Jr. The marriage lasted 61 years, 1 month and 9 days until God called his angel home Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, when her work on Earth was finished. The family extends special thanks to the employees at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Sherwood Manor rehabilitation home and The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Thanks also to Dr. Nicholas Campo and Dr. Mary Thomas. She leaves behind her husband, three children and a grandchild. The survivors are Chalmers Van Wheat Jr., Sandra Lynn, married to John Leslie Harling, Chalmers Van Wheat III, married to Linda Green, Chandler Layne Wheat and grandson, Jonathan Wheat. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Terry Ellis. Private burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
