Blanca Bentin

September 11, 1932 — October 21, 2017

"I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Blanca Lola Bentin de la Pizzati was born September 11, 1932 and passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of La Ceiba, Honduras, and a resident of Baton Rouge. She arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1952, where in 1953 she met the love of her life, Edward Bentin, Jr., whom she married not once but twice in 1954. In August, 1995, after many years of debating the merits of citizenship, she became a US Citizen.

A loving Momma, Mamá, and Grand Mamá, she devoted her life to the raising of her children and the spoiling of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her four daughters, Cristina Bentin (John), Rebecca Maum (Randy), Lydia Blalock (Kenny) and Valery Bentin Shill (Clay); grandchildren, Edward Michael Bentin (Camille), Megan Almand (Cliff), Garrett Maum (Kristin), Collin Maum, Meagan Rose Kinney (Justin), Lindsey Long (Chris), Aaron Long (Sarah), Kelsey Somerhalder (Matt), Kenneth Blalock, III, Jonathon Parker, Cortney McNees (Jon), Blair Fritz, Alexis Frazier, and Anthony Frazier; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Cassie, Nicholas, Kaylee Rose, Alana Rose, MaKenzi, Lorenzo, and Nolan; her brother, Marco Antonio Pizzati Mejia (Martha); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanca was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edward Bentin, Jr.; her parents, Marcos Antonio Pizzati and Lidia Carminda Paz; and four of her brothers, Ramon, Hector, Marcos, and Richard.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge, from 8:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, celebrated by the Rev. Randy Cuevas. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, 11817 Jefferson Highway.

Pallbearers will be Edward Michael Bentin, Garrett Maum, Collin Maum, Aaron Long, Randy Maum, John Burns, Jr., Kenny Blalock, and Kenneth Blalock, III.
