Bettye Bumgarner

Bettye G. Bumgarner, age 81, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on April 12, 2021.

Married to Jimmy N. Bumgarner since June 29, 1979, they enjoyed many happy years together with family and friends.  She attended church at Parkview Baptist Church.  Bettye graduated high school in Bastrop, Louisiana and moved to Baton Rouge where she worked for the state highway department as a keypunch operator.  Bettye had three children: Michael James Parker, Joseph Wendel Parker, and Cecelia Ann Griffith with James W. Parker.  She retired from Women’s hospital where she worked in information systems.

Bettye is survived by her husband Jimmy N. Bumgarner, husband, Michael James Parker (Sara) son, James Gunter, brother, grandchildren:  Timothy Parker, Kaitlin Erickson, Shelton Parker, Layne Rockett, Joel Parker, Matthew Parker, Laura Stansbury, and Victoria Lain.

She is preceded in death by Cecelia Griffith, daughter, Joseph Parker, son, Joseph Gunter, brother, and her parents Helen Passman and Brian Gunter.

Visiting hours and services will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12 – 2pm with services at 2 restricted to family and close friends.
