Betty Thompson Woods

Betty Thompson Woods, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the age of 95.  She was lovingly cared for at home for many years by her caregiver, Mrs. Ernie Chambers and her family.  She spent many years as a second-grade teacher retiring from Broadmoor Elementary.  She was a member of the Bengal Belles, the Red Hat Society, and the singing group “The Sweet Adelines”, played bridge for many years, and was a longtime member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by her son, Dr. David Woods and his wife Leslie; grandchildren, Larry Woods and his wife Allison, Dr. Gary Woods and his wife Jessica, Christy Woods Campbell and her husband Collin; great-grandchildren, Carson Campbell, Caylee Campbell, Logan Woods, Chloe Campbell, Jonathan Woods, Julianna Woods, and Finley Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews with a special relationship with her nephew Will Woods.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis P. “Woody” Woods; and brother, O.I. Thompson

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
