Mrs. Betty Jane Moore Wideman passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. Visitation at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas on Thursday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Betty was born May 27, 1924, in Clarksville, Texas. She was the only child of Ona and Elizabeth Louise Moore. She married her high school sweetheart, James William Wideman, in Dallas on March 8, 1944, while he was home on leave from the U.S. Navy during World War II. Throughout James career as a landman, they lived in numerous places including Dallas, Shreveport, Jackson, New Orleans, Chicago and Houston. Prior to moving to Baton Rouge in November 2009, she resided in Houston for 26 years. Betty treasured her family and many dear friends. She was exceptionally loyal and thoughtful, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Always as Texan at heart, she was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James W. Wideman. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Wideman Jones, and her husband, Michael R. Jones granddaughter, Katie Jones and grandson, Kyle Jones all of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
