Betty Sorey

Betty Sue Sorey, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 68. Sue's joy in life was playing music, worshipping the Lord, spending time with her husband and two boys, as well as spoiling her grandchildren.

Growing up, Sue was the pianist of her families Gospel Trio "The Hargraves Sisters". This began her pianist career as she later composed multiple contada for Christ Presbyterian Church. Before the Lions Club accepted women as members, Sue was invited to be an honorary member.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Galen L. Sorey; sons, Steve Sorey and wife Sharon, and James Sorey and wife Jody; grandchildren, Emma Sorey, Juliet Sorey, Katelyn Sorey, Lucas Sorey, Andrew Sorey, and Rachel Sorey; sister, Jean Humphrey; sister-in-law, Eugenia Sorey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ima Snider Hargraves; brother, Lonell Hargraves; and sister, Shirley Wilkerson.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Christ Presbyterian Church 8025 Antioch Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70817.

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home Mausoleum, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, officiated by Elders, Joey Booth and Denny DuFour, and Deacons, Rick Mitchell and Buddy Amoroso.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
