Betty Ann Hemphill

Betty Ann Hemphill was greeted by her Lord and Savior with open arms on the beautiful morning of Saturday, September 16, 2023, surrounded by her family whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Ruby Hemphill, nephew Tiger Blackwell, as well as numerous other cousins and grandparents whom she had missed through the years. Betty is survived by her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Roger Lee “Butch” Cox, who were her dedicated caregivers.  She is also survived by two nieces whom she loved like her own children, Kayla Blackwell and Mandy Walters, and her nephew Ronnie Walters. She was blessed with great nieces and nephews who brought so much joy to her life, Amanda Kate Blackwell (Caleb Bourgeois), Taylor Walters, and Brady Blackwell, with the most recent addition of a great-great nephew Roman Lee Bourgeois, as well as numerous other cousins and relatives.

Betty Ann was born November 12, 1943, in Union Church, Mississippi. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing sports and being with her family. A longtime employee of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, she retired after 36 years of service as an office administrator. Betty loved all things Elvis and LSU, was the best babysitter, and came to be known as “B” to almost anyone who had the privilege of loving her. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Gonzales Health Care Center, especially Mamie and Linda, her longtime nurses. Special thanks also to her dear cousin Katie Morgan who never failed to lend a helping hand when we needed it.

Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral home on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9-11 am with memorial service to follow at 11:00 am led by Bro. Ron Lambe.
