Betty Barnes, of Baton Rouge went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2015.
In celebration of her life, Miss Barnes was born in Overton Texas, on May 7th 1931. A graduate from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She began her career working in Juvenile corrections. She soon switched to Banking where she found her true calling. Working for over 40 years, beginning in 1950's with Louisiana National Bank (now Chase Bank), she eventually rose to the position of Vice President. In addition to the passion she had for her work, she worked with the Baton Rouge Camellia Society for many years. Her greatest delight and total devotion was to her family, and we will always treasure the many memories of times together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Glenn Barnes and her "best friend" and brother, Dr, John J. Barnes, Sr. and great-nephew John J. Barnes III.
Left to cherish her memory are nephews, John J. Barnes, Jr. and wife Lisa of Denham Springs, La, and James Barnes Pidgeon of San Angelo, Tx. Great-Nephews Benjamin and Andrew Barnes, Great nieces, Mary Grace and Juliana Pidgeon. Her cousin, W. Clark "Scooter" McCall, Jr. and wife, Leah of Shreveport, La.
The family request visiting hours be observed on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 10:00 am until funeral service at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU unit at Ochsner and also for the gentleness, compassion, care and support of New Century Hospice.
