Bernice Blanchard Heil passed away gracefully on Sunday, October 23,2016 in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 87. Bernice, one of six children, was born in Baton Rouge, LA to Ida and Marshall Blanchard.
Bernice's love, loyalty and devotion to her family was unique and unsurpassed. She lived her life like a shining star to all of those she loved. She embraced service to others as her mission and never failed to enjoy life and amaze others with wit, wisdom and class.
Bernice is survived by her five children, Debbie (spouse-Michael Saunders), Cindy Norwood, Pat Heil (spouse- Kay), Don Heil (spouse-Susan) and Darrel Heil (spouse-Becky); 12 grandchildren, Kellie Heil Stein, Scott Heil (spouse-Shandy), Steven Heil, Amber McGovern (spouse-Adam), Megan Sanders (spouse-Chuck), Troy Heil, Hunter Heil (spouse-Brittany), Cameron Heil, Holly Heil, Drake Heil, Jade Heil & Kyle Diez; and 7 great-grandchildren, Baylor Norwood, Rowan Stein, Rose Stein, Evan Heil, Madelynne McGovern, Taylor Heil and Blake McGovern. Bernice is also survived by her sister, Inez Williams and brother, Leonard Blanchard.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Heil; her son-in-law, Mike Norwood; her parents, and her three siblings, Max Blanchard, Glen Blanchard and Charles Blanchard.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, LA, until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Internment will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
