Bernadine Claire Himel

Bernadine Claire Labit Himel, 83, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on August 8, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Bernadine was born on February 21, 1941, in Houma, LA. She graduated from Terrebonne High School where she met her future husband, Earl J. Himel, Jr. They moved to Baton Rouge and shared a life of love and laughter. They were blessed with two children.

 After losing Earl in 2007, Bernadine started a new life with her second husband, Leroy J. Himel. They married in 2009 and danced their way through life till she passed away. 

 Bernadine (Mon-Mon) loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had many interests and was very creative. She was very talented at decorating, crafts, and sewing. She enjoyed camping and travelling. Every birthday, she would bake her grandchildren customized birthday cakes. She loved shopping and a great bargain.

 Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Leola Labit, and her husband, Earl J. Himel, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Himel; her son, Earl J Himel III and wife, Brenna Langlois Himel; daughter, Remy Himel Foulds and husband, Darrell W. Foulds ;and four grandchildren, Anna Foulds, Megan Page Himel Bitton and husband, Bryan W. Bitton, Luke J. Himel and wife, Mary E. Peters, and Aiden Joseph Himel; and her step-children; David Mark Himel,  Sandra Himel, Gregory Scot Himel and wife, Tracy Himel. Bernadine is survived by her sister, Martha Labit Donadieu, and brother, Mike Labit and his wife, Linda. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved and adored her. 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
