Benjamin Joseph Cornwell, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away at the Baton Rouge General on Bluebonnet on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the age of 51. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans and a master’s degree from Louisiana State University Health and Sciences Center. He served at LSU as the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Disability Services. Day trading was his most favorite thing; he also enjoyed art, photography, and college football especially LSU.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Luke Branch; maternal grandparents, Urbin Pierre Tregre and Lelia Marie Tregre; and paternal grandparents, Mary Frances Cornwell and Charles Murray Cornwell.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 10 years, Dawn Cornwell; stepdaughter, Carrie Branch; grandson, Waylon Luke Jackson; parents, Ben and Briget Cornwell; brothers, Blake Cornwell (Cherafia Chermaie), Brad Cornwell, Brent Cornwell, and Brian Cornwell; cousin, Tregg Wilson; his best friend Kingston Eversull, III; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA on January 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
