Benjamin Carey Brown was born on Feb. 16, 1981, in Baton Rouge. He went to be with the Lord he loved on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Ragan Greer Brown. Also survived by his parents, Dr. J.W. Brown III and Patricia Pellegrin Brown; brother, Joseph William Brown; sister, Jennifer Ann Brown; niece, Taylor Ann Brown; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell Bee Greer and Roslyn Strain Greer; brother-in-law, Ryan Russell Greer; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, co-workers and friends. Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Brown Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Myrden Joseph Pellegrin; and uncles, Dr. James Corky Brown and Harry Spence Brown. Ben was a 1999 graduate and valedictorian of Catholic High School, a National Merit Semifinalist, and a recipient of the Tulane University Dean's Honor Scholarship. He was a 2003 graduate of mechanical engineering from Tulane, where he served as the Riptide mascot for three years. He received his master's degree in business administration from the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business in 2006. He was a certified internal auditor, pursuing classes to sit for the CPA exam. He was a member of the Internal Auditing Association vice president of programming, the Catholic High School Alumni Association Board of Directors, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation and Forum 35. He was employed by Postlethwaite Netterville since 2006. He and his wife regularly attended Chapel on the Campus. Ben was a blessing and thoroughly devoted to the Lord, his family and friends. He was a thoughtful and caring man with a bright smile that warmed many hearts. We celebrate his life and know that his spirit will remain with us and inspire us forever. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Aug. 3, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Michael Allelo, celebrant. Entombment in the church mausoleum.
