Barbara Jean Lundy Teer departed this life on February 21, 2013. She was born October 25, 1936, in Miller County, AR to Jim and Carrie Givens Lundy. She is survived from that union by one sister, Mary Lavenia Roll, of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Virginia Sams of Texarkana, her brother, James Lundy of Rodessa, and brother, T.J. Lundy of Oil City, LA. She was also preceded in death by her little everfaithful dachshund, Bandit, who passed two months ago.The pain and suffering are over after a nearly 10year fight with multiple myeloma cancer. She was diagnosed and underwent a bone marrow transplant at Baylor University in Dallas, TX, in 2003. She continued taking oral chemo daily under the supervision of Dr. Frederic T. Billings until her death. Throughout the ordeal, her behavior defined goodwill, generosity, and dignity. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend. Barbara graduated from Rodessa High School in Rodessa, LA, and began her studies the next week at what is now Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA. She received her B.S. degree in Business Education with a minor in English in three years. She completed her Masters in Counselor Education and additional graduate work in Baton Rouge. Barbara taught business subjects and counseled high school students in Baton Rouge for 20 years. Besides teaching high school, she also taught for many years at Baton Rouge Vocational Technical School and at the Ohio Valley College in Parkersburg, WV. She owned two businesses during her active years as teacher and counselor. She had a childrens clothing shop in Baton Rouge and owned Transcription, p.r.n., a medical transcription service in Belpre, OH. When her husband retired, they returned to Baton Rouge. Before retiring, Dale and Barbara became adept at downhill snow skiing while living in Ohio and West Virginia. She was also an avid reader, seamstress, cook, and artist. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Earnest Dale Teer of Rodessa, on August 26, 1956. When he completed his Air Force commitment, he joined his wife in Ruston. They then moved to Baton Rouge for Dale to complete his B.S. from L.S.U. Barbara and Dale acquired their private pilots licenses in the 1960s. They owned several private planes and flew with their three children all over the United States. She and her husband were faithful members at Goodwood Boulevard Church of Christ. She had been a member of Gods saved since she was 14. Her priorities were Church, family, friends. She was a woman of great faith, courage, and strength. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Earnest Dale Teer, three children, seven grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren, and a sister, Mary Lavenia Roll of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by a daughter, Denise Teer Guillot and soninlaw Chet of Valparaiso, IN, a grandson, Brandon Guillot and wife Sandy, great granddaughter, Jennifer, and great grandson, Joshua, of Bryant, AR, a granddaughter, Carrie Guillot Peterson and husband J.L. of Whitehall, AR. She is also survived by a son, Michael Dale Teer and daughterinlaw Sondra and grandson Jay of Ozawkie, KS. She is survived by a second son, Timothy Dale Teer and daughterinlaw Patrice, grandson Devon, granddaughters Brianna and Alise of Prairieville, LA, and granddaughter Lauryn Teer of Houston, TX. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Billings and all of his staff including GiGi, to Esther Sachse and Natalie Depp at Baton Rouge Cancer Services, and her friend Martha Novoa. Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2013, from 6:009:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge and from 1:002:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Funeral service will be conducted by her grandson Mr. Brandon Guillot at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with burial immediately following in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
